Blessed Month

It's the time of year to take spiritual stock
Of the things we are doing and the things we are not

It's a blessed month and our chance to be
Cleansed of our sins if we fast sincerely

Its not just about taking no food and drink
Every part of our body should refrain from sin

Guarding eyes, ears, tongue, our body as a whole
With the conscious intent of purifying the soul.

This will soften our hearts, we will feel the pain
Of those that have little of our worldly gains

The reward of good deeds is many times multiplied
So give money, food, help, whatever you like

Make the mind and body prostrate to the Lord
Let the Quran's message become food for your thoughts

Don't miss the Taraweeh, such blessings it holds
It's a great opportunity to add to the score

Remember, this is the month that generates Taqwa
Doing all those things that bring us close to Allah

Restraining ourselves from the deeds He dislikes
Having love, fear, respect, all these feelings inside

This month brings with it glad tidings, good cheer
It's the best kind of training for the rest of the year.

Ramadan - The Best Month of the Islamic year

It's the best month of the year
Time to shed tears
Of happiness and joy
I can't wait
For it to start
And when it's in full swing
I just don't want it to end

I love the atmosphere
And feel the warmth from everybody
I see unity
Although it's temporary
It's better than the rest of the year

Waking up for sehri
Eating in moderation
Praying fajr in the masjid
Reading Quran
Oh! This feeling of contentment
I just can't describe

Every year I try and improve
Increase my ibadat
Read more Quran
Invite more people to Iftari
And pray more Terrawihs

The Salah in the masjids
Packed like sardines
Imams melodious voice
Takes me to ecstasy

My mind wanders
Thoughts on other things
But I force myself to focus
As the time in salah rushes past

As I turn the pages of the Quran
I read about our creed and glorious past
The prophets struggle against evil
The joys of the akhira
And the shallowness of this life
Temptations of Satan
As tears fall from my eyes

I see my sins in front of me
And beg Allah to forgive
I talk to my friends and neighbors
Advice and encourage
Those who have come back to their roots
This Ramadan

So I continue
Doing the good deeds
Not only my farads
But also as much Sunna as possible
The rewards multiply and increase
And motivate me to do more and more
And with each action
I see myself moving further away from the hell-fire
Whose fuel is men and stones

I am a Muslim

I am a Muslim
And God I praise
For all His blessings
My voice I raise
In one God I believe
No equal has He
Lord of the universe
Compassionate to me
Muhammad the prophet
Taught me the way
To be honest and truthful
Throughout every day
The holy Qur'an
To life is my guide
It's teachings I follow
By it I abide
Islam my religion
Preaches good deeds
Mercy and kindness
To the right path it leads
Upon all humanity
God showers His grace
Regardless of colour
Nationality or race
Through working together
Our hopes increase
To live in a world
Full of love and peace
I am a Muslim
And God I praise
For all His blessings
My voice I raise
